Lucknow: With just two days remaining for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, all major political parties are intensifying their campaign efforts. Alongside the SP-BJP alliance, the BSP has also entered the fray, adding to the electoral dynamics. However, the absence of star campaigners from the Congress has been notable, prompting a strategic move to address this gap. To bolster their campaign presence, both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi are slated to participate in crucial events on the same day. Priyanka Gandhi is scheduled to conduct a roadshow in Saharanpur, while Rahul Gandhi will address a joint press conference with Akhilesh Yadav in Ghaziabad. These events are slated for April 17, marking the culmination of the campaign for the first phase of voting scheduled for April 19. Despite Congress fielding candidates in only Saharanpur for the first phase, its alliance with the SP in UP has allocated 17 out of the 80 seats to the party. Additionally, the TMC has secured one seat, while SP candidates will contest the remaining 62 seats. Notably, candidate announcements have been made for most constituencies, except for Congress strongholds Rae Bareli and Amethi. Speculation is rife that Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi will contest from these constituencies, with a potential announcement after the voting in Wayanad on April 26. As the election campaign approaches its climax, prominent leaders from all parties are actively engaging with voters across the state. While Priyanka Gandhi's roadshow in Saharanpur was initially rumored for April 16, its rescheduling to April 17 indicates a strategic alignment with the final day of campaigning. Saharanpur's strategic location, equidistant from UP, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand, positions it as a crucial hub for political engagement. With Priyanka Gandhi's participation on the campaign's last day, Congress aims to make a significant impact across multiple states simultaneously. As the electoral battle intensifies, parties are leaving no stone unturned to sway voters in their favor, setting the stage for a fiercely contested Lok Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh.
