Flipkart Acquires Augmented Reality Company Scapic

E-commerce portal Flipkart has acquired Bengaluru-based AR (Augmented Reality) company Scapic to improve the experience of its users. The company is a cloud-based platform capable of producing AR and 3D content. Currently, the company is working closely with customers of e-commerce and marketing.

Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of Flipkart, has said that we have invested to improve the retail ecosystem. We will make our platform so easy that consumers will be able to use it easily. The company says that we will acquire 100% stake in Scapic. Simultaneously, the team of experienced developers and designers will work towards accelerating the company's efforts to provide new opportunities for virtual storefronts and brand advertising.

Scapic's co-founders VK Sai Krishna and Ajay PV have stated that Scapic will create a special platform through Augmented Reality and 3D technology, which will completely change the customer perception of the product. It will also make online shopping much easier. Flipkart acquired Intellectual Property (IP) of Mech Mocha earlier this month. Mech Mocha is a mobile gaming startup that operates Hello Play, the country's first live social gaming platform. Its co-founders are Arpita Kapoor and Mohit Rangaraju. Mech Mocha is supported by investors such as Essel Partners, Blue Ventures and Shanwei Capital.
