Food adulteration Check: 8 samples taken from sweet shops

Indore: To check the adulteration in food items particularly sweets, eight samples were collected from various sweets shops of Indore city under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 on Friday. Five samples were taken under food surveillance. According to state government's instructions, under the campaign of public interest adulteration and on the directives of Collector Manish Singh on Friday, eight samples were collected from various sweets shops of the city under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and 5 samples were taken under food surveillance.

 Samples of food items such as gulkand barfi, palm oil, milk cake, cashew katli, malai barfi and ghee were taken. Five samples of milk products were taken under food surveillance. They will be sent to the laboratory for examination and after receiving the report, further action will be taken. Due to deficiencies found in the premises of the kitchen where the sweets were prepared, suggestions under Section 32 of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 will also be issued. Food security officer Pushpak Kumar Dwivedi, Rakesh Prasad Tripathi, Avid Kumar Aggarwal, Subhash Khedekar, Kirti Rawat and Raju Solanki were part of the team which took the samples.
