Form has to be filled, ID card has to be shown? 2000 notes will be changed from tomorrow

New Delhi: The exercise to replace the 2000 rupee notes taken out of circulation by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is starting from tomorrow i.e. Tuesday (May 23, 2023). You can easily exchange your 2000 notes by visiting any bank branch. For this, you do not need to fill any form, nor will you be asked for any kind of identity card. However, at a time you can exchange 10 notes of 2000 rupees, that means only 20 thousand rupees will be changed at a time. 

In fact, many kinds of rumors are being spread on social media about this process, so that tension spreads among the people, it is being said that identity cards will be needed in banks to replace the notes taken out of circulation. But, on these fake news, the country's largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) has informed all its branches that no one will be able to replace the Rs 2,000 notes withdrawn from circulation by the RBI with immediate effect on last Friday. No form and no identity proof is required. In a circular issued by the bank on May 20, it was said that everyone has been allowed to exchange notes of other denominations for Rs 2,000. 

Let us tell you that the process of replacing these 2,000 rupee notes taken out of circulation will continue till 30 September 2023. According to RBI, any person can exchange notes of up to Rs 20,000 at a time. According to the instructions of RBI regarding the process of note exchange, all the banks have completed their preparations. Let us tell you that, while announcing the withdrawal of 2000 notes from the market, it was said by the RBI that these notes will remain legal tender for the time being, along with the central bank has asked all banks not to issue new 2000 rupee notes. Instructions were also given.
