New Delhi: Former Army Chief General SF Rodrigues passed away today. He was born in Bombay in 1933. He was the chief of the Indian Army from 1990 to 1993. He was appointed as the Governor of Punjab and administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh on November 8, 2004. The Indian Army has paid tributes to him through a tweet. It said that army chief General MM Naravane and generals of all ranks of the Indian Army have condoled the sad demise of Suneth Francis Rodrigues. The Indian Army tweeted that he was known as an idea and strategist. He has left behind a legacy of utmost dedication and service to the nation. Rodrigues joined the Joint Services Wing of the Indian Military Academy in 1949 and was commissioned into the Artillery Regiment on 28 December 1952. After serving in several fields and automatic artillery units, he applied for pilot training at the Air Observation Post of artillery in 1964 and qualified as an artillery aviation pilot. As a brigadier, S.F. Rodrigues commanded a mountain infantry brigade in a high-altitude area from 1975 to 1977. Thereafter, Rodricks attended a 1978 course at the Royal College of Defense Studies in the United Kingdom. He was the chief instructor at the Defence Services Staff College from 1979 to November 1981. Inflation bomb will explode in India!
