Former hockey player Balbir Singh Khullar has passed away. Hockey India gave this information on Sunday. Balbir was 77 years old and was a part of Indian team that won bronze medal in Olympics in 1968. Hockey India tweeted that we are saddened by the death of our former hockey player and two-time Olympic medalist team member Balbir Singh Khullar. Born in Sansarpur in Jalandhar district of Punjab, Balbir made his Indian debut in 1963 in Leon, France. According to reports, he gained a reputation as an inside forward in the Indian team and toured countries such as Belgium, England, Netherlands and West Germany. Balbir was a member of the Indian team that won gold at the 1966 Bangkok Asian Games and bronze at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico.
