Section 370: Shah Faesal reaches Supreme Court against Modi government's decision, hearing tomorrow

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir political leader Shah Faesal and activist Shehla Rashid have challenged the Centre's move to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution granting special statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcation of the state. This time, seven people, including former IAS officer and Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement chief Shah Faisal, Shehla Rashid, have filed a petition against the Modi government's decision.

The Supreme Court will hear the plea of former IAS officer and now leader Shah Faesal along with the rest of the petitions on the Kashmir issue on Wednesday. After the constitution was abolished from Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month, Shah Faisal had said that an unprecedented bandh was continuing in Kashmir and 80 lakh people have been imprisoned. Never before did this happen in Kashmir.

Shah Faesal, a former IAS officer from Jammu and Kashmir, has resigned from his post and formed a new political party, the Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement, which is headed by himself. Shah Faisal made headlines when he topped the IAS exam. Shah Faisal was the first to top the IAS exam from Jammu and Kashmir.
