Dehradun: Former minister of state and presently a roadways employee leader committed suicide by shooting himself in the presence of police by climbing an overhead tank near the house due to a very dramatic and tragic incident. According to the police, Bahuguna was saddened by the serious charges leveled against him by his daughter-in-law in a family dispute. The family members have also termed the case registered against him on serious charges as wrong. Hem Rajendra Bahuguna, a former minister of state and senior clerk in roadways, a resident of Bhagat Colony in the same Banbhulpura police station area, climbed on the overhead tank built some distance from the house at around 1 pm on Wednesday. For a long time, people and policemen kept persuading them to get off from there, but they did not listen and started talking about jumping. Due to this, Banbhulpura police station SO Neeraj Bhakuni, who reached Tahrir, tried to convince him for a long time and refused to come down to talk. According to SO Banbhulpura, Bahuguna shot himself when he kept the mic on the matter of coming down. Police reached them with STS in injured condition. There the doctors declared him brought dead. He was due to retire on 31 October. He lived in the house with his son, wife and daughter-in-law. Due to his death, the family members are in a bad condition. Police say that on receipt of Tahrir from the family of the deceased, strict action will be taken against whoever is behind Bahuguna's suicide. Police will investigate the matter thoroughly.
