Former PM Vajpayee's niece Karuna Shukla passes away due to corona

Raipur: Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's niece and Congress leader Karuna Shukla have passed away due to corona infection. He died at Ramakrishna Hospital in Raipur late on Monday night. According to reports, he breathed his last at 12.40 pm. The last rites of late Karuna Shukla will be performed at Balodabazar on Tuesday.

Karuna Shukla, a Lok Sabha MP, was the head of the Social Welfare Board in Chhattisgarh in Vermman. She had also held several top positions in the BJP, including the national vice president. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel has condoled the death of Karuna Shukla. CM Baghel tweeted, "My karuna aunty, Karuna Shukla Ji is no more. The cruel corona took them too. Apart from politics. I continued to receive his blessings. May God place her in heaven and give us all the strength to bear their dispersion".

Karuna Shukla, niece of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was born in Gwalior on August 1, 1950. In 1983, MLA was elected from the BJP for the first time. In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, he tried his luck against Congress' Charandas Mahanta on a BJP ticket but did not succeed.
