NEW DELHI: Former Union Minister and senior leader of BJP Satyabrata Mookherjee died at his residence on Friday, March 3 due to age-related ailments. He was 90. Mookherjee is former Additional Solicitor General of India (ASG) and the father of current West Bengal Advocate General SN (Gopal) Mookherjee. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the demise of BJP leader and former Union minister Satyabrata Mookherjee. In his condeolence message, PM Modi said Mookherjee played a major role in building the BJP in West Bengal. Sharig note on Twitter Prime minister wrote: "Pained by the passing away of former Union Minister, Shri Satyabrata Mookherjee. He played a vital role in building the BJP in West Bengal. He was respected for his legal acumen as well as intellectual prowess. Condolences to his family. Om Shanti," BJP president JP Nadda also expressed his grief over the demise of the BJP leader, saying the latter was a true guardian of the people of Krishnanagar and worked tirelessly for them. "I was shocked to learn of Shri Satyabrata Mukherjee's passing. Julu Babu devoted his entire life to serving the people of Krishnanagar as a loyal protector.
