From Honda to Kawasaki two-wheeler industry is turning its attention to electric vehicles

Electric car sales in India are soaring to new heights, thanks to a variety of new alternatives on the market as well as government incentives to encourage new consumers to choose battery-powered vehicles.

While Ather Energy, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle company, was successful in breaking into the industry early, subsequent entrants like as Ola Electric have also had a significant influence on the Indian electric two-wheeler sector. Only TVS and Bajaj Auto have been engaged in this area from the big two-wheeler businesses, although with limited alternatives. Perhaps what's going on right now is that major bike businesses are holing up down to study the EV industry's prospects for the next five years.

But things are changing for the better, and there's a strong possibility that in the next five years, every major two-wheeler manufacturer will have introduced an electric two-wheeler to the market. Recent events reinforce this viewpoint, indicating that big two-wheeler businesses are becoming more serious about the EV industry.

For starters, Kawasaki just announced that by 2035, it will be completely green in chosen regions. The vast majority of them will be established markets with adequate infrastructure to accommodate battery-powered technologies in the near future. Without a doubt, if Kawasaki succeeds in creating EV alternatives for its motorcycles by 2035, some of them will be able to be transported to growing markets (including India). Apart from Kawasaki, Honda has also expressed interest in the electric future, announcing the launch of at least three electric cars in the worldwide market by 2024. The Honda Mobile Power Pack (MPP), which is effectively a swappable battery pack that stores power, will be included on these two-wheelers. In terms of the Indian market, Honda 2-Wheelers India may release an electric vehicle in the next years to compete with Ola Electric and Ather Energy.

Suzuki has, however, been seen testing the electric version of the Burgman scooter on several occasions. In the next months, the same would be released in India. Not to mention the fact that Hero MotoCorp, India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, is working on an electric scooter that would be available in the country by 2022. With so many bike companies jumping in the pool, the EV market is bound to heat up in the next few years.
