New Delhi: Diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, who escaped from India after a scam worth thousands of crores, denied that he had not fled India but had left India for his treatment in the US. Mehul Choksi claimed in the Dominica High Court that he was a law abiding citizen and had left India only to seek medical treatment in the US. Choksi claimed that he had invited Indian officials for interview and also asked them to ask any questions related to the ongoing investigation against him. He said, 'I have invited Indian authorities to interview me and ask me any questions regarding any investigation being conducted against me'. He said, "I have not escaped from India, I left India to seek treatment in the US, then there was no warrant against me by the law enforcement officers in India". Let us tell you that a Qatar Airways private plane sent by India to bring back fugitive diamond merchant Mehul Choksi from Dominica has left the Caribbean island country after about seven days. This has been revealed in the public flight figures. Flight number A7CEE of airline Qatar Executive left Delhi International Airport at 3.44 am on May 28, sending necessary documents relating to cases against Choksi. The plane had reached Marigot in Dominica via Madrid. The External Affairs Ministry has reportedly said that all efforts are being made to bring Mehul Choksi back to India. The Ministry has said that legal procedures for the same are being completed in Dominica.
