GAJ UTSAV: Kaziranga National Park to be shut from April 6 to 8

ASSAM: The Kaziranga National Park issued a notification today, March 22, that it will be closed for tourists from April 6 to 8, 2023 for Gaj Utsav.

The purpose of Gaj Utsav is to raise awareness of the animal that represents India's National Heritage. The celebration includes their integral part in ecology as well as their inclusion in our mythology, literature, and religion. The Eastern Assam Wildlife Division's Divisional Forest Officer issued a notification stating that the Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari in all ranges, including Kaziranga, Bagori, Burapahar, and Agoratoli, will be closed to visitors from April 6 to April 8, 2023.

The Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari in all ranges of Kaziranga, Bagori, Burapahar, and Agoratoli will be closed to tourists from April 6 to 8, 2023, according to a notification from the DFO. This is due to the celebration of Gaj Utsav - 2023, which is being organised by the Environment and Forest Department, Assam Government, and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, the Assam Government, and the Environment and Forest Department are responsible for organising this event (MoEFCC).

More than hundred domestic Asiatic elephants, all adorned from head to toe, take part in range of events, including dance, football, parade, and races, bringing cheers from the audience., said Assam's Forest Department.

Kaziranga National Park is a protected area in the northeast Indian state of Assam. Tigers, elephants, and the biggest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses in the world call the woods, swamps, and grasslands of the Brahmaputra River floodplain home. Dolphins from the Ganges River swim in the park's waters. Several uncommon migrating species stop by, and grey pelicans roost close to Kaziranga settlement.
