The validity of the renewal of essential documents of motor vehicle including driving license due to corona crisis and lockdown by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways ends on 31 December. In this case, if you have not yet renewed your vehicle documents, then you may have to pay a heavy fine. Most people believe that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will once again extend the deadline for the necessary documentation of motor vehicle including driving license but no such order has come yet. In this case, if you have not renewed the documents of the vehicles, then you may have to pay a heavy fine after 31 December. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had increased the validity of the document which expired after 1 February due to the corona crisis and lockdown. Earlier, the highway ministry had extended the validity of the driving license, fitness registration, insurance till 30 September which was once again increased to 31 December 2020 due to the increasing outbreak of Corona crisis. In a statement of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, it said, 'The Ministry has validated the fitness of vehicles, permits, licenses, registration or other documents under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989. It has been decided to extend it till 31 December 2020'. The Ministry further advises that all related documents whose validity cannot be extended or are likely to be due to a nationwide lockdown and those documents whose validity has expired from February 1, 2020, or by December 31, 2020, they will be considered legal till 31 December 2020.
