Goa Govt to sign MoU with Isha Foundation to augment soil policy

PANAJI: In a bid to promote save soil and coast of the state, Goa government will sign an agreement (MOU)with 'Isha Outreach' of Sadhguru Jagadish Vasudev on August 23, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said.

"We are signing aN MoUwith Isha Outreach on August 23 at 4 p.m. at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee indoor stadium. This agreemnet will be between the Environment and Climate Change Ministry and Isha Outreach," Sawant said.

Addressing a press conference at Panaji, Sawant said that youth should participate in the movement of 'Save Soil' initiated by Sadhguru Jagadish Vasudev.

Goa CM said that along with Sadhguru Jagadish Vasudev, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Goa environment Minister Nilesh Cabral and other ministers will be present on the occasion.

"The program's motto is "Exchange of expertise, training, empowerment of stakeholders, and public awareness." From the standpoint of agricultural productivity and food security, we shall emphasise sustainable soil health management," he said.

He also said that Isha Outreach would inform the government of its soil policy and work to protect Goa's soil and coastline.

Earlier, MLAs from coastal constituencies of Goa had raised complaints about sea erosion and its impact on tourism. "Isha Outreach will work with other concerned parties on issues such as food security, a sustainable food system, a sustainable farming system, the deterioration of agricultural land used to produce food, and natural and organic farming methods. The term of this MoU is three years "said Sawant.
