J&K: Government to release imprisoned leaders on this condition

Srinagar: Major political leaders of the state were detained after the Central Government removed Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. This includes both separatists and mainstream leaders. There is a lot of criticism of the Government. The case was also taken to the country's highest court. But the court refused to intervene immediately. However, the court had issued a notice to the government in the past. It has been 47 days since the decision was taken in Kashmir.

The Government is now going to release these leaders. Bonds are being signed for this purpose. Seven leaders, including separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, have signed a bond for their release. For the past 47 days, separatists and leaders of various parties have been detained. The detained leaders have been offered release by the administration on the condition of signing the bond. According to sources, apart from Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, two leaders of the NC, one each from the PDP and the People's Conference and two others have signed the bond.

They are among 36 detained people who have been kept in the Centaur Hotel. People's Conference Chairman Sajjad Ghani Lone, PDP Youth Wing leader Wahid Para and bureaucrat leader Shah Faisal have refused to sign the bond. It is estimated that more than 1,000 leaders, separatists, activists and lawyers, including former CM Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, have been detained. About 100 people, including NC leader Ali Mohammed Sagar, have been sent to jails outside the state. Former CM of the state and NC MP from Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah has been arrested under the PSA Act.
