Government's big decision, ban on import of 351 defense equipment

New Delhi: Taking a big decision on Wednesday, the Defense Ministry banned the import of 351 defense equipment. These devices include many subsystems and components of defense production. The import of these equipment will not be allowed under the deadline starting December next year. This is the third list released by the Defense Ministry in the last 16 months.

The same decision has been taken with the goal of making India the center of production of military platforms and equipment. Along with this, the ministry also released another list of 2500 items which have already been indigenised. According to the ministry, with these steps, India is moving rapidly towards the goal of becoming self-reliant and achieving new successes.

In a statement issued by the same ministry, it has been told that the military equipment has become indigenous. In order to make the country self-reliant in defense production and to reduce the dependence on imports, positive decisions are being taken continuously by the Ministry. According to the statement, these 351 items imported so far will be indigenised in the next three years.
