Hyderabad:The Telangana government, led by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), is contemplating extending financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to minority communities, as announced by State Minister Harish Rao. During a gathering of minority representatives in Hyderabad, Telangana Health and Finance Minister, Harish Rao, disclosed that the state government is currently formulating a scheme to provide Rs. 1 lakh financial assistance to minorities. The BRS Minister explained, "Recently, approximately one week ago, Mahmood Ali (Telangana Home Minister) met with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and requested financial aid of Rs. 1 lakh, citing the existence of numerous economically challenged individuals among the minority population, with banks being reluctant to provide loans. In response, the CM promptly directed the formulation of a scheme to grant Rs. 1 lakh financial assistance to minorities, without requiring any bank consent. The CM's directive has already been issued, and the Government Order (GO) will follow shortly. Within the next 10 days, minorities will receive the Rs. 1 lakh financial assistance, without being dependent on bank loans." In addition, the minister criticized the Congress party, stating, "The Congress has consistently utilized minorities for their vote bank politics, without actually working for the welfare of the people. They say one thing and do another." Meanwhile, the BJP has raised allegations, asserting that the BRS is employing appeasement tactics to woo minorities ahead of the forthcoming Telangana assembly elections. BJP leader Ramchander Rao expressed, "The BJP condemns such appeasement policies by the BRS government, viewing them as nothing but vote bank politics. Providing Rs. 1 lakh to individuals from professional backward classes engaged in various vocations like carpentry and ironwork is acceptable. However, giving it exclusively to the Muslim community upon Mahmood Ali's request indicates the government's willingness to utilize public funds for appeasement and vote bank politics." "While the BJP supports the development of all communities, we firmly oppose this kind of appeasement. Using public money to favor a particular community solely for political gains is reprehensible. We will actively resist such actions by the BRS government in Telangana," added the BJP leader.
