New Delhi: A two-day workshop "Chintan Shivir - Heal in India" organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare began on Friday in order to have a discussion on bringing policy promoting medical tourism. The workshop is taking place at the National Institute of Biologicals (NIB) in Noida and will end on Saturday. Among the key agendas to be discussed during the 'Chintan Shivir' are medical tourism, Indian traditional medicine and wellness systems, the potential of health insurance, and digital health, according to official sources. The workshop will include further discussions about strengthening medical infrastructure and improving primary and tertiary healthcare. On the first day, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin, officials from the Centre and States, and industry experts, attended the 'Chintan Shivir.' The Union Health Ministry held a two-day workshop called "Chintan Shivir - Heal by India" last month. The theme of last month's 'Chintan Shivir' was "Heal by India - Supply of Healthcare Workers to the World." "We cannot encourage doctors to go abroad, which was one of the four major points discussed because we have a doctor shortage. Instead, we can allocate some seats to developing countries and provide opportunities for students from those countries to receive medical training in India at top private and government medical colleges such as AIIMS and other top medical colleges " a senior Health Ministry official who attended the 'Chintan Shivir,' said.
