Gurugram: Hindu organisations have suggested the idea of 'Ghar Wapsi' in response to the ongoing agitation over open prayers in the city. The Joint Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, which is leading a protest against open prayers, has advised Muslims to convert to Hinduism. Mahavir Bhardwaj, head of the Joint Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, has said, "Most of the non-migrant Muslims here had Hindu ancestors and were converted. We offer them 'Ghar Wapsi.' He said, "If anyone willingly agrees to return to the religion of their ancestors, we will help and welcome them. If many people are interested, we will organise a mass 'homecoming' event and sprinkle 'Gangajal' on them. With this, they will have no shortage of places to pray, as they can then pray in temples. According to media reports, the committee's proposal has sparked outrage among people belonging to a particular community. He has demanded immediate government intervention ahead of communal tension in the city. Aftab Ahmed, MLA from Noah assembly seat, has said, 'What else do you expect when the Chief Minister himself supports such behaviour? His intolerant remarks have further fuelled the situation.'
