Chandigarh: Tension prevailed over the construction of a mosque in Punjab's Rajpura. The case is of Gujjara locality. Earlier there used to be Guru's inn. Devotees from both Hindu and Sikh communities used to come here. It is being told that a few days ago some people converted the guru's inn into a mosque. This was strongly opposed by Sikhs and Hindus. In view of the situation arising due to the mosque at the place of Guru's inn, a large number of forces had to be deployed on the spot. On Monday (17 May 2022), the matter was also heard in the local SDM court. During this, apart from the people of the Muslim side who were building the mosque, Sikhs and Hindus were also present in large numbers. According to Sikhs and Hindus, Guru ki Sarai is a Gurdwara. Here people of both the societies used to serve.

Local Sikhs and Hindus have alleged that without asking anyone the form of a mosque was given here. Sikhs and Hindus have already expressed their opposition on this issue. Local people say that Muslims gather in the Guru's inn during the daily prayers. These include people from outside the state as well. These are neither verified nor recorded. Loudspeaker is played in loud voice, which causes problem to the general public. At the time of hearing in the SDM court, there were also many religious leaders, people of cow protection team. After the hearing, SDM Himanshu Gupta said that force has been deployed to keep the atmosphere normal.

He asked both the parties to produce proofs and documents to support their claims. Statements of both the parties have also been taken. Now the administration will get it investigated at its level whether there was a mosque or an inn. Please tell that the place where the dispute is happening is present in Gujranwala locality of Patiala. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) claims that no permission was taken by the Muslim side to convert the Guru ki Sarai into a mosque. Local residents of Gujranwala locality and many people of the Sikh community are also supporting this claim of VHP. These people have demanded action against those who converted the inn into a mosque.
