'Har Ghar Tiranga': Amit Shah hoists national flag at his residence

NEW DEKHI: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, and his wife Sonal Shah unfurled the tricolour at their New Delhi home on Saturday to mark the beginning of the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign ahead of the 75th anniversary of Independence Day. Shah earlier urged citizens to participate in the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by erecting the tricolour from their homes to honour India's 75th anniversary of independence.

Also,  as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in a tricolour Prabhat Pheri in Guwahati.

Till August 15, the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign will be active. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence, the Central government has asked citizens to hoist or display the tricolour at their residences from August 13 to August 15.

The National Flag may be flown or displayed on any day or event by a person, a private business, or a school. The period during which the flag is displayed is not limited. The tricolour may now be flown openly and on specific homes or structures throughout the day and night according to a government amendment to the Indian Flag Code.

The Government of India has launched an effort called Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate and celebrate 75 years of independence as well as the illustrious past of India's people, culture, and accomplishments.

The programme envisages inspiring  Indians everywhere to fly the flag at home. Instead of just keeping it formal or institutional, the program's goal is to make the bond with the national flag more personal. The purpose of the campaign is to instill a sense of patriotism in the public and raise knowledge of the tricolour.
