Hathras: The uproar over Hathras gang rape has intensified. Several opposition parties are raising questions about the attitude of Uttar Pradesh government and UP police in the case. Meanwhile, some Trinamool MPs going to meet the victim's family on Friday have been stopped by the UP Police. During this, Derek O'Brien fell down in a tizzy. The Trinamool has issued a statement stating that some of its MPs were stopped by the UP Police one and a half kilometers before the victim's village. The party has stated that these MPs were traveling separately. This group of Trinamool MPs came from Delhi, 200 km away. These include Derek O'Brien, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Pratima Mondal and (former MP) Mamta Thakur. These leaders were going to meet the victimized family of Hathras from Delhi. One of the MPs who was stopped said, "We are moving towards Hathras in peace and are going to meet the aggrieved family and offer our condolences." We are traveling separately and following all protocols. We have not taken any weapons. Why are we stopped? What kind of jungle is that the elected MPs are not being allowed to meet an aggrieved family here. We are currently just 1.5 km from the victim's house. We are explaining to the police officers that we can cover this distance on foot as well. Let us tell you that before this, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, who are going to meet the family of the victim, were also stopped on the Yamuna Expressway. The UP police had also taken Rahul and Priyanka into custody and released on condition of coming back to Delhi. However, on Friday, under the Pandemic Act, Noida police registered an FIR against Rahul and Priyanka at the Kotek One police station. Also, 150 Congress workers are also named in the FIR. It is known that 50 unknown people have also been booked. All have been sued under sections 188, 269, 270 IPC.
