HDFC Bank shortlists 3 candidates to succeed CEO Aditya Puri

The board of HDFC Bank, the largest private sector bank in India, has shortlisted the names of the three candidates best suited to succeed the bank's chief executive officer and managing director Aditya Puri. The names shortlisted by the bank's board will be sent to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the regulator for the banking sector. Puri has been leading the bank since its inception and he has made HDFC Bank the highest market capitalization bank in the last 25 years.

HDFC Bank's board constituted a search committee to appoint the new head of the bank. Apart from this, external methods were also being sought to find suitable candidate for appointment to this top post.

The bank has informed the stock exchanges about the matter, "The board of directors of the bank has finalized the names (in order of preference) of the three candidates for appointment to the post of MD and CEO of the bank." At the same, the bank has not given any information about the three candidates. However, a media report claimed that the bank's board has finalized the names of Shashidhar Jagadishan, K Bharucha and Sunil Garg.
