The procurement of pulses and oilseed crops for the current Rabi season has started between lockdown and corona crisis. In Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, procurement of pulses and oilseeds at minimum support price (MSP) has started. At present, one and a half lakh tons of pulses and 30 thousand tons of oilseeds have been procured. A total of Rs 785 crore was spent on this.

For your information, let us tell you that till now the production of the produce of 1.25 lakh farmers has been done. During the lockdown period, procurement of rabi pulses and oilseeds was continued under the PSS scheme, but the pace was very slow in the initial days. NAFED has been entrusted with the purchase of the buffer stock of pulses. Arhar is being procured on a large scale in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.

According to the government agency regarding this matter, the purchase of pulses and oilseeds was stopped after the announcement of lockdown in Kota division of Rajasthan, which has been resumed from April 15. However, procurement in other parts will start from May 2020. The purchase of gram and mustard has been started at 163 procurement centers in Haryana from April 15. About 27,276.77 MT mustard has been purchased in the first two days.
