LUCKNOW: With the rate of routine vaccination of women dropping by more than 10% during the pandemic, Uttar Pradesh's health department has launched a seven-day special drive to vaccinate women. According to state health department data, immunisation coverage was 94% in 2019-20, but dropped to 84% in 2020-21. In 2021-22 (until January), the rate fell further to 81%.The special drive will now concentrate on pregnant women and children under the age of two who missed their routine immunisation doses due to the pandemic. Over the next seven days, the drive, known as Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0, aims to reach more than 2.8 lakh expectant mothers and 9.1 lakh children. The immunisation drive will include 1.3 lakh immunisation sessions. The Union Health Ministry had prioritised 56 districts for coverage in the drive, but Uttar Pradesh has decided to expand it to all 75 districts.
