Heavy rains drenched several areas of Madhya Pradesh, greeting residents with a damp Monday morning and a noticeable chill in the air. Over the past 24 hours, some regions experienced significant downpours, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an orange alert. The alert warned of potential hailstorms, accompanied by strong winds ranging from 30 to 40 km per hour and thunderstorms laced with lightning, expected to hit isolated areas in both western and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh throughout Monday. In this deluge, Jhabua district received the highest rainfall of 110.3 mm, closely followed by Barwani district with 109 mm, as reported until 8:30 am on Monday. Further west, Indore saw 51 mm of rainfall, while Bhopal experienced a milder 3.6 mm, according to Ashfaq Husain, a senior meteorologist at IMD's Bhopal center. Notably, nine areas within Barwani district were drenched by heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 and 115.5 mm. The downpour extended across several parts of western Madhya Pradesh and scattered areas in the east over the past day. Husain predicted that the eastern regions would witness additional showers at isolated locations on Monday, with expectations for the rainfall to gradually subside starting Tuesday. These heavy rains caused a noticeable drop in temperatures across many areas of the state, lending a slightly colder feel to the day's weather.
