Hoax Bomb Threat Causes Delay for Air Arabia Flight at Calicut International Airport

KOZHIKODU: A hoax bomb threat disrupted operations for an Air Arabia flight at Calicut International Airport, resulting in a significant delay. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when airport staff discovered a note with the word 'bomb' on one of the seats just before boarding was about to commence. The flight, originally scheduled to depart for Sharjah at 8:30 AM, was promptly grounded for thorough inspection.

According to airport sources, the note was presumably left behind by a passenger who had arrived on the same aircraft from Sharjah. In response to the threat, the bomb detection squad was immediately summoned to conduct a comprehensive search of the plane. After extensive checks, airport officials confirmed that the bomb threat was a false alarm.

Due to the necessary security procedures, the departure of the flight was postponed until 5 PM the same day. Passengers affected by the delay were provided with necessary accommodations including food and water. Meanwhile, local law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for the hoax.
