Indian hockey men's team announced for FIH Pro League

The Hockey India team on Monday announced a 24-member Indian men's team for the FIH Hockey Pro League-2020 matches against world champions and world number-1 team Belgium in Bhubaneswar. India is going to compete against the world's number-1 team Belgium on 8 and 9 February in the Pro League. The world No-5 Indian hockey team defeated the Netherlands 5–2 in their first match of the FIH Pro-League and 3–1 in the penalty shootout in the second match.

Midfielder Manpreet Singh will lead the Indian team in this match against Belgium at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, while Dragflicker Harmanpreet Singh will be the vice-captain of the team. Raj Kumar Pal is a new face in the team. Pal was part of the junior team of India, which won the silver medal in the Sultan Johor Cup in Malaysia last season. Apart from Pal, PR Sreejesh, Krishna Pathak, Gurinder Singh, Amit Rohidas, Surendra Kumar, Germanpreet Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh have also been selected in the team.

Graham Reid, the head coach of the Indian men's hockey team, said, "The purpose of these matches of the FIH Hockey Pro League is to give players a chance for Olympic selection, complete our strongest combinations and demonstrate that we are the best teams in the world To compete with each other.
