The UN envoy had already announced a cease-fire between the warring parties in Yemen on Friday. "The parties agreed to halt all offensive military air, ground, and maritime operations inside Yemen and across its borders; they also agreed for fuel ships to enter Hodeidah ports and commercial flights to operate in and out of Sanaa airport to predetermined destinations in the region; and they agreed to meet under my auspices to open roads in Taiz and other Yemeni governorates," Grundberg said. "With the parties' approval, the cease-fire might be extended beyond the two-month period. The goal of this cease-fire is to provide Yemenis with a much-needed break from bloodshed, relief from humanitarian misery, and, most significantly, hope that the crisis may be ended "he added. During the cease-fire, the envoy stated he would seek to achieve a durable cease-fire, address critical economic and humanitarian needs, and resume the political process.
