There were huge applications for LRS. A total of 25.59 lakh applications were filed under the Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS) 2020 as the deadline for filing applications on October 31 has expired. In an excellent response to this scheme, 30,717 applications were filed till midnight of the last day. Applications were received from different places. Out of 25.59 lakh applications, 10.83 lakh sacks from gram panchayats, 10.60 lakh from municipalities and 4.16 lakh from municipal corporations across the state have been filed. In municipal corporations, greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received 1,06,891 applications, Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation received 1,01,033 applications and Khammam Municipal Corporation received 51,395 applications. As the last date is over, the focus is now on processing applications to be done in various stages including technical observation, field verification and fee payment. After checking these parameters, an inquiry is issued for applications. The last date for filing applications was October 15 but the state government extended the deadline till October 31, taking into consideration the appeals of the people and elected representatives and the recent heavy rains, interruptions in Internet services and power supply in many places.
