ICC T20 rankings: Mohammad Rizwan, KL Rahul and Martin Guptill sizzle in the top 10

New Delhi: Team India opener KL Rahul has been rewarded for his stellar performance in the T20 World Cup 2021 and then the T20 series against New Zealand. Rahul has jumped one notch in the latest T20 batsmen rankings released by ICC. Former T20 captain Virat Kohli has been dropped from the top 10 after a long time. New Zealand's star opener Martin Guptill and Pakistani opener Mohammad Rizwan have also gained big.

Rahul also scored 65 runs in the first match of the T20 series against New Zealand after scoring 3 consecutive half-centuries against Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia in the World Cup. Thus Rahul hit 4 half-centuries in his last 5 innings and finally benefited from it. He has climbed one notch to fifth in the latest rankings. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has dropped out of the top 10 after several months. He took a rest in the series against New Zealand, which prevented him from improving his ranking and dropped from 8th to 11th position.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma, who became India's new captain in the format, has also benefited from superb form and has jumped two places to the 13th position. Rohit also scored 159 runs, including two half-centuries, in the series against New Zealand in the last matches of the World Cup.
