ICMR says - No scientific evidence that Covid tablets will be useful now

New Delhi: According to the Indian Council of Medical Research Director General Balram Bhargava, scientific data on anti-viral Covid tablets does not support that these drugs will be effective at this time because it has been discovered that they must be administered early, even before the sickness is diagnosed.

In a briefing on the current state of Covid and the new variant Omicron in the country, he stressed the need of low-intensity celebrations and the avoidance of unnecessary travel and large gatherings.

New Covid cases have been reported below 10,000 for the past 20 days, according to Joint Secretary of State for Health Luv Agrawal. The case positive rate for the previous week was 0.65%. Kerala currently accounts for 40.31 percent of the total number of active cases in the country, according to him.

India is delivering Covid-19 vaccine doses at the highest rate in the world, with a daily rate of doses administered that is 4.8 times that of the United States and 12.5 times that of the United Kingdom. He said that 101 Omicron cases have been reported across 11 states so far, which is a novel Covid variant.
