Indian football coach Ignor Stimac's tenure extends

The 32 foreign coaches whose contracts have been extended by the Sports Minister, taking care of the Tokyo Olympics, include football team coach Igor Stimac and his team's name. On the suggestion of the All India Football Federation, the ministry has extended the agreement of Stemek, fitness strength coach Luka Redman and goalkeeping coach Tomislav Rojik to 30 September 2021 due to Corona messing up the conduct of the Asian Cup football qualifiers. However, Stimac has been in Croatia for a long time.

The country has to play an important World Cup qualifier against Qatar at home in October. Stimac was contracted for 2 years, taking care of the Asian Cup qualifier until May 2021, but this is no longer possible due to a Corona infection. Keeping this in mind, his agreement has been given a big deal. Sources say that his tenure can extend beyond this.

Stimac, the defender of the Croatian team that reached the semi-finals of the 1998 World Cup, is India's most expensive foreign coach. He gets around Rs 17.20 lakhs every month. This includes tax paid by AIFF as his salary. The Ministry of Sports carries a major portion of this salary for more than about ten lakh rupees, while the rest is funded by the Federation. The biggest achievement of the Indian team after the joining of coach Stemec is to stop the Asian champion Qatar in the World Cup qualifiers on a goalless draw at his home.
