Kanpur: A student of an IIT institute in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, committed suicide in his hostel room on Tuesday (September 6) night. The deceased student, Prashant Singh, was a PhD student at IIT Kanpur. Prashant Singh, a mechanical engineering student, was a resident of Varanasi. Prashant was not opening the door of his room. The students knocked on the door several times, but even after that when Prashant did not open the gate, the door was broken. Everyone was stunned to see the view of the room as the gate opened. Inside, Prashant's body was hanging from the ceiling with the help of a bedsheet. He was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The team reached the spot as soon as the police got information about the incident. Prima facie, the police are investigating the case of suicide. At the same time, the IIT administration is also trying to find out the reason for the suicide. At the same time, on receiving the news of the son's death, the father also reached Kanpur. Police said that around 10 pm on Tuesday night, fellow students living in the hostel, seeing Prashant's room closed, knocked on it, but there was no sound from inside. After which he was taken off the noose and taken to the hospital. Where the doctors declared him brought dead. Police are now trying to know the reason behind the suicide by questioning the students and faculty in the matter. As soon as the matter was reported, the relatives of the deceased student reached Kanpur from Varanasi. The body will be handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem today.
