FIROZABAD: An FIR has been registered against an upper-caste teacher of a government primary school in Firozabad district for physically assaulting an 8-year-old Dalit student's arm. The teacher also allegedly hurled  a 'casteist slur' at her parents when they came to the school to file a complaint.

The report was lodged following the orders of sub-divisional magistrate Adesh Kumar Sagar.

Guddu Pandit, a teacher at Salempur Primary School, was charged in an IPC complaint under sections 504 (insult with the intent to cause a breach of the peace), 325 (causing grievous hurt), and 323 (causing hurt), as well as the pertinent sections of the 2015 SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Amendment Act.

Sunil Kumar, the victim's father, said: "The accused teacher began harassing my wife and me and using casteist insults against us in front of other students when my wife and I went to the school to report the horrific beating of my child. He urged us to leave while threatening us." The occurrence happened on August 31.

The father claimed that despite making repeated trips to the local police station, nothing was done. On Tuesday, he finally made a complaint at the SDM office, and as a result, a FIR was recorded.

"The hand of my child has a fracture. Because of her trauma, she is not eating properly "said the father.
Hari Mohan Singh, Deputy SP, stated on Wednesday, "Based on Kumar's accusation, an FIR was filed under the pertinent provisions against the student's teacher. A medical examination of the youngster is planned. A meeting has been scheduled to question the accused teacher.The whole matter is being probed in detail."
