New Delhi: A brutal murder took place in the Bhajanpura area of Delhi where a 19-year-old Hindu youth named Karan Jha was stabbed to death while another youth named Madhav was injured. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. The accused, identified as Afzal alias Ajju and his associate Sameer, were arrested by the police.

According to the FIR filed by Madhav Goyal, a 29-year-old eyewitness and a friend of the deceased, the attack happened suddenly as Karan and Madhav were leaving Karan's newly opened tea, coffee, and fast food shop named 'Artist Coffee House' in Bhajanpura. Karan was driving the scooter while Madhav was riding pillion. Afzal attacked Karan with a sharp knife, stabbing him in the chest. Subsequently, Sameer joined in and assaulted Madhav. Both attackers fled the scene when bystanders started gathering. Karan was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. Madhav, who was also injured, received medical treatment.

In the FIR, Madhav revealed that Karan had previously had a fight with Afzal, who had threatened him with dire consequences. This altercation at Shaitan Chowk is believed to be the motive behind Karan's murder. The police have arrested Afzal and Sameer under sections 302, 323, and 34 of the IPC.

Karan's family, originally from Sitamarhi district in Bihar, has left Delhi and returned to their hometown, leaving only Karan's father behind to complete legal formalities. According to Karan's landlord, Bhuvanesh Sinhal, Karan was the sole breadwinner of the family, and his murder has left them in a state of shock and fear. The family had faced previous attempts on Karan's life, with attackers laying in wait for him for several days. Karan's last rites were performed at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi.
