Asia Table Tennis Championship: G Sathiyan and Achant Sharath pair enters in quarterfinals

New Delhi: The Indian men's doubles pair of G Sathiyan and Achant Sharat Kamal stole their place in the quarter-finals of the 24th ITTF Asia Table Tennis Championships with a brilliant performance. The Indian pair won an easy win against Bahrain pair of Mahfood Syed Murtadha and Rashid in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Sathiyan and Sharath defeated Murtadha and Rashid 11-8 11-6 11-3 in a one-sided match.

Sathiyan and Sharat will face Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan's China pair in the quarter-finals. Earlier, Sathiyan and Sharat defeated Jordan's pair of Abo Yemen Zaid and Aldemji Zayad 11-4 11-7 11-7 in the Round of 32. The pair of Harmeet Desai and Anthony Amalraj, who got a bye in the first round, however went 11-5 7-11 11-3 8-11 6-11 against the Chinese Taipei pair of Lu Sing Sin and Peng Weng Wei in the Round of 32. Had to face defeat.

In the women's doubles, Manika Batra and Archana Kamath and Madhurika Patkar and Sutirtha Mukherjee also lost. Manika and Archana, who had easy wins in the first round, suffered a 6–11–9–11–11 loss to the Korean pair of Yang Hyun and Jeon Zhi in the second round.
