The actress Shruti Reddy who debuted in Kollywood with Marina Puratchi, has been providing motivational one-on-one sessions for those who are going through a low phase. She says, “I’m a motivational speaker and run an organisation through which I’ve been delivering speeches on mental health and well-being at colleges in Chennai and Andhra Pradesh since 2019. I’ve also been coaching corporate employees. Though I’ve stopped going to colleges since the pandemic broke out last year, I’ve been providing online sessions. Recently, I had a few sessions with a producer from the industry, who was feeling low since the lockdown. It was satisfying when he said he was feeling much better after talking to me.” The youngster also visited an old-age home after the lockdown was lifted last year to deliver medicines to the inmates there. “They don’t understand speeches, so we use activities and games to help the elderly de-stress. They are aware of the pandemic, but they are trying their own methods to cope with it. Though I’d like to visit more orphanages and old-age homes now, I feel it’s better to wait it out for both their and our safety,” she says. A B Tech and an MBA graduate, Shruti continues, “I’ve been reading books on mental health and doing courses in life coaching to learn more about effective ways to reach out to people. We don’t give therapy or medication; we lend an ear to those who want to vent out, offer solutions and options to those who are confused… People feel light once they have poured out what’s burdening them.” Varalaxmi introduces her son to her fans!
