IMD predicts heavy rainfall in several states till July 13

New Delhi:   The India Meteorological Department on Friday released a weather forecast report predicting heavy rain showers in several Indian states for the next five days due to the arrival of the torrential monsoon.

For the next five days, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan will see heavy (64.5 to 114.5 mm) to very heavy (115.6 to 204.4 mm) rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning present on three of those days.

For July 8, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red signal for Goa on Thursday. The state is likely to endure a rainy spell as a result of heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few isolated locations for five days in a row.

"On July 7 and 8, isolated areas in the North and South Goa districts are highly likely to see extremely heavy rainfall. From July 7 to July 9, and on July 10-11, isolated areas in both districts are extremely likely to see very heavy rains. From July 7 onward, certain locations are extremely likely to have heavy rain. Rainfall in heavy spells is highly likely. Wind gusts of about 50 kmph are extremely likely combined with the periods of rain "In a statement, IMD stated.

Kerala, Gujarat, and Karnataka will all see heavy to extremely heavy rain.
