Bhopal: In Madhyapradesh, lightning struck several places amidst heat, humidity and then torrential rains on Wednesday. Eight persons lost their lives due to lightning at different places in the state. Four people were seriously injured. According to media reports, the maximum number of deaths were reported from Sheopur. Six friends were having a picnic in the forest near Ajnoi village of Karahal block in Sheopur. During this, six friends lost their lives due to lightning. In Bhind, two women succumbed to their injuries due to lightning at Sukand village under Gormi police station. In Chhatarpur too, three people, including a mother and son, lost their lives.

With this, Akalvati (35) wife of Ramswaroop Lodhi lost her life due to lightning in Bagarbara village of Shivpuri. While Malti (32) wife of Virendra Lodhi suffered burns. Nattharam Baghel at Ghamdipura in Tigra in Gwalior and Harnam Singh Gurjar's son Betal Singh Gurjar (32), a resident of village Bagwai in the Bhitarwar area of the district, also succumbed to lightning.

In the Chhatarpur district, three people died due to lightning. Rampyari Ahirwar (50), his 25-year-old son Mukesh Ahirwar, was working on his farm at Garhia Talab in village Maharajganj under the Badamlahara police station area. The lightning fell on the mother and son. Both of them died on the spot. Reda Ahirwar (50) died due to lightning while working in a field at Agarotha in Amarwan under the Bamnoura police station.
