According to CBDT, a large quantity of material found during the raid is being investigated. On July 22, the Income Tax Department raided the offices of Dainik Bhaskar in several cities simultaneously in connection with the tax evasion case. The Department has covered 20 residential and 9 commercial campuses spread over nine cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bhopal, Indore, Noida, and Ahmedabad. On the other hand, the media group has hit out at the government over the raid saying it is fed up with journalism on corona mismanagement.

Talking to the media, Devendra Bhatnagar, editor of Divya Bhaskar, Gujarat, said that earlier he tried to pressure the newspaper in different ways, in the last two and a half months, the Central and State Governments had stopped advertising the newspaper. Editor, advertising comes under their purview, he can stop it. Even then, when the Government did something good, we kept printing it, when we did something wrong, we also printed it. According to Bhatnagar, the raid is a reward for Bhaskar's continued reporting and exposing the failure of the government.
