Ankara: Turkish President Richep Tayyip Erdogan has once again raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Despite already raising strong objections from India's side, Erdogan has uttered Kashmir issue. On this, India also raised the issue of Cyprus pressing Turkey's sore point. Within hours of Erdogan's statement, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Kavusoglu and raised the issue of Cyprus. Giving information about this meeting, Jaishankar wrote in a tweet that, 'Met the Foreign Minister of Turkey and many issues were discussed with him. Among them is the crisis in Ukraine. Food security, G20 countries and Cyprus.' Let us tell you that the issue of Cyprus has been a sore point for Turkey from the beginning and India has suppressed this weak vein of Turkey in return for speaking on Kashmir. This diplomacy of India is being seen as a befitting reply to Turkey's Kashmir anger. In fact, the Cyprus crisis began in 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern part. The situation in Cyprus had worsened due to the military coup and Turkey took advantage of it. Since then, India has been in favour that the matter should be resolved according to the United Nations (UN). India has always had good relations with Cyprus and has been supportive of India's stand on Kashmir issues for the last 5 decades. Addressing the United Nations (UN), a few hours before the meeting of Jaishankar and the Turkish Foreign Minister, Erdogan said that it has been 75 years since India and Pakistan became independent and sovereign countries, but till now there is no peaceful relationship between the two countries. Huh. it's unfortunate. We hope that the Kashmir issue will be resolved and there will be lasting peace. Let us tell you that in the last few years, the President of Turkey has raised the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations General Assembly several times. Let us inform you that, earlier in 2021, while raising the Kashmir issue, Erdogan said that we hope that both sides will resolve this issue peacefully. At the same time in 2020 also he raised this issue. Both times there was a befitting reply from India. Let us tell you that recently, Turkish President Erdogan had a meeting with PM Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the SCO summit. Turkey is facing a deep economic crisis these days. In such a situation, their meeting was seen as an attempt to improve business relations.
