Tehran: Thousands of women are protesting in Iran after a woman detained in police custody for not wearing a hijab lost her life. The women also wished for the death of Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of this Muslim country, calling him a dictator and waving posters related to it. The Iranian government has blocked access to Instagram in the wake of heavy protests. So far, 7 people have lost their lives in these protests. Some men are also on the streets with women.

At the same time, due to these protests, Iran has blocked Instagram in its country. The protests erupted after the brutal murder of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. Iran's Morality Police arrested the woman for wearing "inappropriate clothes". The demand for human rights is now intensifying in this Muslim country struggling with international sanctions. An Iranian minister threatened to shut down the internet, citing "security reasons" and said his statement had been misrepresented as the controversy escalated.

At the same time, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei made no mention of these demonstrations while giving a speech at an event organized to mark the anniversary of the Iran-Iraq war between 1980-88. Earlier, such protests were seen in Iran in 2019, when the government increased gas prices. Security forces are constantly trying repressive methods. Urmia, 23, and Pirnsahar, 16, were shot dead by police during the protest. However, the Iranian administration is not confirming these deaths.

Iranian protesters are now gathering at one place and leave before the police arrive so that they do not have to face cruelty. Several young men were brutally beaten up by police in the western area of Tehran University. 450 people have been injured in these protests due to police action. The Iranian government is talking about a 'clean investigation', but the demand of the protesters is not so much. At the same time, Israeli women have supported Iran's protesters.

Videos are going viral on social media, in which women are burning their hijab with open hair and some are protesting against the incident by cutting their hair. Iranian women are showing their outrage over the murder of Mahsa Amini by cutting off her hair and burning her hijab. Journalist Alinejad says that if girls in Iran do not cover their hair from the age of 7, they are not allowed to go to school and do not get any jobs. Let us know that women in Iran are fed up with this system of gender discrimination.
