NEW DELHI: India logged 268 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours against 188 cases reported on the last day, said the Union Health Ministry on Thursday. With this, the active caseload stood at 3,552 cases, accounting for 0.01 percent of the country's total positive cases. At the same time, the weekly positive rate stood at 0.17 percent, while the daily positive rate remained at 0.11 percent. India's recovery rate stands at 98.80 percent. The recovery of 182 patients in the last 24-hours took the cumulative tally to 4,41,43,665. Also in the corresponding period, the reports said a total of 2,36,919 tests were conducted across the country, increasing the overall tally to over 91.04 crore. With 99,231 vaccines administered in last 24 hours, India's Covid vaccination coverage surpassed 220.08 crore as of Thursday morning. Amid a rise in COVID cases in some countries, including China & South Korea, the government has sounded an alert and asked States and Union Territories to prepare for any eventuality. The Health Ministry sources also said the severity of the infection is less. They said that even if there is a wave, deaths and hospitalisation will be very low.
