India to host shooting and archery championships in 2022

The India Commonwealth Shooting and Archery Championship is scheduled to be hosted in Chandigarh in January 2022. Along with this, its medals will be included for the ranking of competitive countries in the games to be held in Birmingham. The medals of both these events, however, will be added to the final table one week after the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.

According to the information, the CGF took this decision in a meeting of the Executive Board in London from 21 to 23 February. The decision is seen as a major victory for India, which warned of boycotting the 2022 Birmingham Games after the shooting was dropped. A release issued by CGF said, 'Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championship in India will be organized in 2022. The matter related to its organization has been approved by the CGF Executive Board.

Let us tell you that both these events will be held in Chandigarh in January 2022, while the Commonwealth Games will be held from 27 July to 7 August 2022. Earlier in July 2019, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had threatened to boycott it in protest against the removal of shooting from the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
