India, US are natural allies in the field of education: Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that India and the United States are natural allies, particularly in the field of education, and that there is enormous potential to strengthen collaborations between the two countries' educational institutions.

"India and the United States are natural allies, especially in the field of education. There is a lot of potential to strengthen collaborations between India and US educational institutions, specifically in inter-linking industry, academia and policymakers," Pradhan’s statement reads.

On Wednesday, he spoke at a virtual roundtable on "Advancing India-US Education Partnership." The roundtable was hosted by the Indian Embassy in New York and its five consulates in Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, and Atlanta.

He claims that India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has increased student and teacher mobility around the world, as well as research partnerships and mutually beneficial educational collaborations. "To align with the Prime Minister's announcement at the COP26 summit in Glasgow, India's education system must be ready to align with global aspirations, which NEP 2020 allows for," he added.
