New Delhi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General MM Narwane is travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia. The Indian Army said that the Army Chief would be on a UAE tour from December 9 to December 10, 2020. He will hold talks to enhance defence relations of India-UAE. Army Chief Narwane will then visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the second leg of his trip from 13 to 14 December. He will take forward the excellent defence cooperation between Saudi Arabia and India with senior officials of the security establishment and share his views on various defence-related issues. According to an official statement by the Indian Army, this will be the first time that an Indian army chief is going on a visit to the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The purpose of this visit is to significantly strengthen defence and security relations with both influential countries of the Gulf region. It is believed that India's relations with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have been very strong in the last few years. The Chief of Army Staff General Narwane had also visited Nepal for a three-day tour last month.
