Hockey: India defeated Belgium, won all matches

New Delhi: The Indian men's hockey team is on a tour of Belgium to play a five-match series. India performed brilliantly and defeated Belgium 5–1 in the fifth and final match. World number five team India won five matches on this tour. After defeating Belgium 2–0 in the first match, they defeated Spain 6–1 and 5–1 in the next two games. They then won 2–1 and 5–1. Simranjit Singh (seventh), Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (35th), Vivek Sagar Prasad (36th), Harmanpreet Singh (42nd) and Ramandeep Singh (43rd) scored the minutes. The Indian team took the lead on Simranjeet's goal in the seventh minute.

Belgium tried to bounce back but in the ninth minute, Krishnan B Pathak saved a penalty corner. In the second quarter, Belgium got two consecutive penalty corners in the 16th minute but Pathak again showed the same promptness. Lalit doubled the target for India in the third quarter in the 35th minute. Young Vivek Sagar Prasad scored in the next minute. Belgium again got a penalty corner in the 38th minute but PR Sreejesh saved the goal by diving. The next minute, however, Alexander Hendrix scored the goal to make it 3–1. India maintained this lead till the end and won the last.
