New Delhi: Indian Railways has completely stopped operating trains in Punjab. Northern Railway spokesman Deepak Kumar has given information in this regard. He has said that there were reports of trains operating in Punjab, which are completely false and full of rumours. Due to farmer agitation in Punjab, there is a brake on the operation of trains and it is going to continue. The Railway said on Thursday that due to the ongoing agitation by the farmers, train service in Punjab is suspended and no passenger train has been started. Deepak Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway said, 'It has been published in many places that train services in Punjab have been restored but nothing like this has been decided. These reports are false and trains are not running. Kumar further said, 'These reports have been published quoting the NR press release issued on October 22 stating that services of goods trains were restored for one day. After this, keeping in view the safety of the staff, it was also closed'. However, according to the news agency PTI, the Railways on Wednesday said that it has restored the operation of 97 freight trains in Punjab. The farmers, who were opposing the new agricultural laws brought by the Center, had stopped operating trains in Punjab and sat on the tracks.
